Town approves $309,000 for road projects

The Fredonia Town Board last week approved an estimated $309,000 worth of road and culvert projects this summer.

Pioneer Road from Oriole Lane to Highway E will have its existing asphalt pulverized, and three inches of new asphalt will be laid along with gravel shoulders. Two inches of asphalt will be placed in 2021. The project budget is $111,000.

Several maintenance projects are planned, at a cost of  $174,500. They include: 

• Country Lane from Highway A to River Park Road will receive a one-inch coat of asphalt and be chip sealed.

• Evergreen Road from Cedar Valley Road to Highway I will receive a one-inch coat of asphalt at each intersection, some minor ditching near Highway I and new road markings. The entire roadway will be chip sealed. 

• Roads to be chip sealed include Minnie Court from Loraine Drive to the cul-de-sac; Jay Road from Kay-K Road to Highway 57; River Park Road from Highway Y for a half mile west; Fredonia-Kohler Road from Highway I to Highway H/Fairview Drive.

Culvert projects are also planned, at a total cost of $23,500. They include:

• Replacing a 48-inch culvert on Oriole Lane north of Pioneer Drive and making improvements to the inlet and outlet. 

• Replacing an 18-inch culvert on Kay-K Road north of Highway A.    

• Replacing a 24-inch culvert and making ditch improvements on River Road at Kohler Road. 

• Replacing three 18-inch culverts on Country Lane before making future road repairs.

The town’s road budget for the year totals $335,000.
