Top candidate accepts clerk post in Belgium
The Village of Belgium has a new clerk.
Theresa Bartley, owner of a home-based cleaning service called Magic Hands by Theresa LLC, has accepted the job, Treasurer and Deputy Clerk Vickie Boehnlein said.
Bartley is slated to start Monday, March 4, and will be paid $46,000 per year.
Bartley was chosen by the Finance and Personnel Committee over Sharon Harvey, a director of sales for Kaat’s Culligan, a water conditioning business in Plymouth.
At her business, Bartley said, she increased customer satisfaction by implementing efficient business processes and providing exceptional service, developed and maintained strong relationships with clients, managed finances, including budgeting, reporting and tax preparation, implemented marketing strategies to attract new customers and oversaw daily operations.
“I’m ready to hire an employee and do something new for myself,” Bartley wrote in her application.
She is a graduate of Milwaukee Hamilton High School and went through a six-month leadership program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Bartley succeeds Julie Lesar, who resigned Feb. 2 after eight years with the village. She said it was time to do other things.
Lesar will return on a part-time basis to help train Bartley.
In the meantime, Boehnlein is handling the clerk duties.
