Three is Ozaukee track team’s number twice at Kohler
The Ozaukee High School girls’ and boys’ track and field teams finished third at last Friday’s Glenn Funk Invite at Kohler.
The boys scored 72 points. Kohler won the seven-team meet with 164, followed by Sheboygan Christian’s 75.
Jack Lentz won the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 7.5 inches, and the discus with a toss of 148-1. Fritz Hoffmann won the 300-meter hurdles in 44.59 seconds. He was fourth in the high jump, clearing 5-2, and in the long jump with a distance of 17-11.75.
The 3,200 relay of Wyatt Borchardt, Hoffmann, Ayden Hartmann and Nick Schubert was second in 8:55.25.
CJ Dvorak was third in the 200 in 25.11 and fourth in the 100 in 12.03. Luke Hamm was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40-4.5.
The girls scored 63 points. Living Word Lutheran won with 170, followed by Kohler’s 131.
The 3,200 relay of Maggie Hoffmann, Katelyn Gomez, Eva VanMinsel and Madison Glaeser was second in 11:32.91. Helen Utecht was second in the discus with 101-6 and third in the shot put with 31-1. Lilia Steinert was second in the high jump, clearing 4-6. Glaeser was second in the 3,200 in 12:30.04, and VanMinsel was fourth in 13:25.64. Kennedy Brown was second in the shot put with 29-4 and in the discus with 85-6.
CG-Belgium boys take second
Cedar Grove-Belgium’s boys finished second at a Big East South Mini Meet on April 27. They scored 132 points. Kohler won the seven-team meet with 158.
Event winners were: Nolan Brill, 800, 2:14.8; Abram Brill, pole vault, 9-6; the 400 relay of Noah Peterson, Parker Held, Daxton Vanderbeek and Cameron Holle, 47.64; and the throwers relay of Bretz, Matthew Thorsen, Brady Albinger and RJ Griffin, 56.99.
Second-place finishers were: Weston Huenink, 1,600, 4:47.42; the 1,600 relay of Nolan Brill, Holle, Peterson and Huenink, 3:47.86; and Andrew Neese, pole vault, 9-0.
Third-place finishers were: Held, 100, 12.78, and 200, 26.03; the 3,200 relay of Wylan Reichle, Grady Ketterhagen, Eli Nehring and Judah Dulmes, 10:43.91; Griffin, high jump, 97-3; Reichle, pole vault, 7-0; and Bretz, triple jump, 38-5.5.
Fourth-place finishers were: Nehring, 400, 1:01.11; Jack Krause, 800, 2:23.33; and the 800 relay of Vanderbeek, Noe Celedon, Ethan Brandt and Eli Brill, 1:47.05.
Rocket girls take fifth
Cedar Grove-Belgium’s girls scored 52 points and finished fifth. Kohler won with 123 points, and Oostburg had 112.
Brynlee Schmidt won the 1,600 in 5:40.72, and Lydia Schmidt won pole vault by clearing 6-0.
The 800 relay of Braelyn Meinen, Grace Meinnert, Schmidt and Antonia Leonards was third in 2:11.96.
Ozaukee’s girls take third
The Warrior girls scored 102 points and finished third at the Big East South Mini Meet.
Event winners were: the 400 throwers relay of Saaba Annor, Brown, Bentley Kraus and Utecht, 1:07.88; and Steinert, high jump, 4-4.
Second-place finishers were: Utecht, discus, 101-8; Macie Morgan, high jump, 4-2; and Glaeser, 1,600, 5:47.41.
Thirds went to: Johnson, 100, 15.29; the 1,600 relay of Hoffmann, Gomez, VanMinsel and Glaeser, 5:01.49; Brown, shot put, 29-7.25, and discus, 83-4; Johnson, long jump, 13-2.25.
Ozaukee boys finish sixth
Ozaukee’s boys scored 64 points and were sixth.
Lentz won the shot put with 47-5.5 and the discus with 134-9. Hamm was second in the shot put with 44-9.25. Braydon Lowrance-Eischen was second in the discus with 121-10. Hoffmann was second in the 300 hurdles in 44.33 and third in the long jump with 18-3.75.
Ozaukee competes at Hilbert and the Rockets at Sheboygan Falls on Friday, May 8. Both are at Howards Grove on Tuesday, May 12.
