Thomas J. Sheppard III

Thomas J. Sheppard III, a beloved husband, father and grandpa, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at his home in Port Washington. He was 78 years old.

Tom was born on July 28, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Thomas and Elaine Sheppard.

Tom was a beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend. He lived a life defined by kindness, strength, humility and an unwavering dedication to his family. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with those he loved.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Galler, on Aug. 22, 1969. They shared nearly 57 years together, a life in which they created a warm and welcoming home in Port Washington for more than 50 years. 

Tom dedicated many years of his life to his work as a machinist at Milwaukee Machine and Engineering in New Berlin, where his hard work and dedication was well respected.

During his retirement, you could find Tom enjoying a car show, watching the Packers play or going to a local Friday night fish fry with his favorite people.

Tom enjoyed being a father and grandpa. He looked forward to afternoons relaxing at his home surrounded by his wife, family and friends. He was known for his generous heart, his ability to make others laugh and his knack for starting up a conversation with anybody wherever he went. He has left a lasting impression on all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Sheppard; his children Tim (Lisa Vasta) Sheppard, Stacy (Mike Ebben) Sheppard, and Thomas (Angie) Sheppard IV; grandchildren Kaylee, Tiffany, TJ (Thomas V) and Ellie; close relatives Richard and Sharon Schmit and Dennis Galler; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dean Sheppard, as well as brother and sister-in-law Howard and Barbara Galler.

The family will honor his life with a private celebration of life at a later date, remembering the love, laughter and legacy he leaves behind. We are deeply grateful for the kindness, prayers and support extended to our family.
