Subdivision plat approved

A preliminary plat for a 16-parcel subdivision along Park Street in the Village of Belgium was approved this month with some conditions, and planned infrastructure construction comes with a twist.

The Village Board unanimously approved the plat for Lincoln Woods subdivision and its 16 planned townhouses per review and revisions from the village’s engineer and any revisions to a subdivider’s agreement by village staff.

Ansay Development Corp. has planned to build 16 homes encircling Stepping Stones Children’s Center on Park Street between Lincoln Court to East Lane.

Plans include two stormwater ponds.

Since the village is doing infrastructure work in the area that’s ahead of Ansay’s work schedule and the two projects will overlap, the company drafted a letter to Belgium reiterating its commitment to the subdivision.

“They just wanted more confidence that we aren’t going to back out of the project,” Ansay real estate project manager Brian Wustman said.

He said Ansay hopes to start work on infrastructure in fall.
