Studio to hold chairs exhibit

The Old Town Hall Studio and Gallery in Belgium is holding its own event during Luxembourg Fest.

On Saturday, the opening reception of its fifth annual “Family and Friends with Chairs Show” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

The show started when Don and Eileen Urness bought the building at 814 Main St. It came with 28 folding chairs, and they gave the chairs to family and friends to decorate.

Artists are also allowed to bring two-dimensional art for the walls.

“It has become a tradition to have this show on the same weekend as Luxembourg Fest and has become a reunion of sorts,” the gallery newsletter said.

“This will be a very special year since it is Belgium’s Centennial Celebration and we are one of the 100-year-old buildings featured on the walking tour.”

This year’s show features a couple of Belgium artists.

The work of coppersmith and artisan Karl Kiehnau of KWK Copper can be seen at kwkcopper.com/index.htm

Katherine Dalexander will feature her polymer clay masks.

Both artists are in their eighties.

Teiva Campbell and Sandy Achterberg will be back with their creations, and the Urnesses are selling their work, with some pieces never been shown before.
