Students to host walk for water on May 16

Students from Cedarburg and Grafton high schools in the Global Scholars program will host a four-mile walk to raise awareness for the global water crisis on Saturday, May 16.

The walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Cedarburg High School and include two loops of two miles each — the average distance people in developing countries walk each day to gather water for their families and communities.

There will be several water stations along the route sponsored by local businesses and organizations.

There is no entry fee but donations can be made online at https://walk4water.hhi.org/cedarburg-wi-2026 and at the event. 

The students hope to collect at least $7,500 in donations to fund a new well in a developing country with the support of the Rotary Club of Cedarburg-Grafton.

Walk4Water is a fundraising program hosted by Healing Hands International to support its water ministry. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, 842,000 die annually from water-related illnesses.
