Students find a cast of characters at their school

Students at Dunwiddie Elementary School in Port Washington showed up for class last month and instead of the familiar faces of their teaches and other staff members they found Thing 1 and Thing 2, a trio of super hero mice, a caterpillar and other characters from children’s books. The staff member dress up day was part of the school’s week-long celebration of the National Education Association’s Read Across American Day ahead of the birthday of renowned children’s book author Dr. Seuss.
