Steven Wayne Frantz

Steven Wayne Frantz, 75, passed away on April 26, 2026.
Born in Hampton, Iowa, Steve was the oldest son of the late Wayne and Pat Frantz. He grew up in Wisconsin and, as such, was a lifetime Green Bay Packers fan.
Steve was a proud graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering and enjoyed working on equipment and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.
As a child, he loved camping and fishing with his parents and brothers. This tradition continued into adulthood as he, his siblings and their wives made it a priority to camp, fish and create a multitude of memories.
After moving to South Carolina in 1984, he co-founded Carolina HomeCare, a durable medical equipment company, with his parents. Steve built the business from the ground up into a highly-successful home healthcare company serving upstate South Carolina hospitals, clinics and patients. He served as president of the South Carolina Association of Durable Medical Equipment Dealers and worked with state legislators to help facilitate positive policy change for durable medical equipment coverage.
Steve was an active member of Lee Road United Methodist Church, dedicating his time and energy to serving the local community.
Steve married Monica on March 1, 1980, and became a devoted husband and protector of his family.
He also was an avid outdoorsman and a steward of God’s creations. His passions in life were off-road motorcycle racing, hunting, fishing and, most of all, family. He enjoyed his safari trips to South Africa, fishing in Canada and on Lake Erie and vacationing in Germany, Luxembourg and Italy.
Steve’s favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Papa, never failing to teach them jokes, cheer them on in sports and let them know how much he loved them.
Steve will always be remembered for his wit and wisdom and the way that he always imparted a little life lesson into all of his stories and conversations. He was a practical man, and we’ll always imagine hearing him say, “Is it in the budget?” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, brother, Papa, uncle and friend, and will miss Steve every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Surviving are his wife Monica Schommer Frantz of the home; a son, Nicholas Steven Frantz (Elizabeth) of Monroe, N.C.; a daughter, Patricia Jean “PJ” Serrano (Pete) of Pasco, Wash.; two brothers, Jeffrey Frantz (Lynn) of Southbury, Conn., and John Frantz (Evelyn) of Grass Valley, Calif.; brother-in-law Bob Schommer (Jean) of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and four grandchildren who he loved dearly, Sofia, Lilli, Davy and
Max. Steve is also survived by many nieces and nephews he was proud to love and treat as his own children.
