Stand-ins for fans in the stands

With attendance at Ozaukee High School basketball games in Fredonia limited to two people per player, the Warriors Boys Basketball Club saw an opportunity to boost players’ morale and raise money for the program by selling signs to display in the stands, as shown in this photo taken at the boys’ game against Random Lake on Jan. 8. “After the first few games, we noticed how sad it was that the student section and the stands were empty because of the two-spectators-per-player rule,” club member Michelle Kowalkowski said. “It put a little life back into the stands.” The “Fill the Stands” campaign has raised $270 so far, she said. Each sign is sold for $15 and will be displayed at all regular-season home games. At the end of the season, the sign goes to the sponsor or the player.
