St. Joe’s students honor teachers

Families and staff members at St. Joseph Parish School in Grafton celebrated teacher appreciation week on Friday, May 1. Teachers and students were able to reconnect directly for the first time since mid-March in the school’s parking lot during a drive-through parade, which also featured a collection for inner-city homeless shelters. During the event, students Dylan Marquardt, 11, and his sister, Natalie, 9, picked up materials needed for the rest of the school year with their mother Jenny Marquardt as staff members Mary Bartett (left) and Julie Dich wore masks and gloves. Second-grade teacher Julie Lemke (lower right photo) waived to passersby during the event. Photos by Sam Arendt
