Snow Runners save lives

Some of the proceeds from the Snow Runners’ fifth annual Moonlight Meltdown 5 and 10-kilometer race on April 21 were used to help purchase an automated external defibrillator for the Belgium Fire Department. Its current AED is outdated and unable to be repaired. The new one is easier to use and a more advanced unit. Other funds from the event are used to maintain snowmobile equipment and trails in Ozaukee and southern Sheboygan counties. The Snow Runners maintain about 70 miles of trails. This year’s event featured 238 participants. Snow Runners members presenting the AED were (left) Ken Schueller and (far right) Casey Frey. Fire Department members accepting the AED included (from left) Bob Makoutz, Kaity Olsen and Pat Wester. Missing from photo due to an emergency call were Andrew Olsen, Tammy Pfeiffer, Gary Bichler and Bill Tiedt. Photo by Sam Arendt
