Snow on the ground, a nip in the air sets the scene for Saukville’s tree lighting

Some years, Veterans Park in Saukville is more green than white and temperatures, while not exactly balmy, are not bone-chilling for the annual tree lighting celebration. Not this year. It was downright cold, and a blanket of snow created a Christmas card-like scene as the village rang in the holiday season on Sunday. Jill Olson (middle in photo above) and her children Wyatt and Natalie joined others in the park singing carols. Then came the moment children were waiting for — the arrival of Santa on a village fire truck.
