Shirley Mueller Paape

Shirley Mueller Paape, 88, of Westfield, Wis., passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, in the home she loved.

She was born June 28, 1936, in Farmington, Wis., to Armin and Marcella (Neumann) Peterson.

Shirley’s working life included time as a farmer, dessert chef for Smith Bros. Restaurant, designer and baker of elaborate wedding cakes, hairdresser and owner/operator of two successful donut stores.

She was a lover of the outdoors and spent countless hours gardening and tending to her flower beds.

Above all, she was a mother whose foremost concern was the well-being of her six children.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 25 years, William “Bill” Paape; children Scott Petersen, Peter Mueller, Debra (Rich) Habich, Jesse (Nancy) Mueller, Daniel (Anne) Mueller and Amy Mueller; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Jerry (Elsie) Peterson; other relatives; friends; and thoughtful, caring neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her prior husband Merlin “Coby” Mueller and her granddaughter Carolyn Petersen.

Shirley’s family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life.
