Shirley Conrad
Shirley Conrad of Port Washington relocated to heaven on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019. She was 93 years old.
Shirley was born in Port Washington on July 27, 1926, to Henry and Josephine Prom of Lake Church. She was the oldest of eight children.
On Aug. 23, 1947, she married her one true love, Kenneth Conrad. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their son, Randy Conrad.
Shirley worked as a mother and homemaker and for 18 years as a real estate broker and seven years as a secretary for the City of Port Washington.
Once retired, Ken and Shirley moved to Shawano, Wis., where they turned undeveloped acreage into a beautiful estate complete with their very own “19th Hole.”
After Ken went to set up their new homestead in heaven on June 5, 1995, Shirley moved back to Port Washington to be near family and friends.
In her long life, Shirley was generous, funny and loving. She had many friends and couldn’t go anywhere in Port without happily greeting at least one. Her hobbies included bowling, bridge club, golf, playing games on her iPad and watching YouTube on her Chromebook. She enjoyed her Amazon Echo “Alexa,” who turned on and off all her lights and played her favorite songs. Each week she looked forward to watching “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette” with her sister Paula. She adored and got a kick out of her granddaughter’s rescue dog Zoey.
She is survived by her son Randy and daughter-in-law Toni of Saukville, granddaughter Sara Conrad of Mequon, grandson Shawn Conrad of Port Washington and grandpuppy Zoey.
She is further survived by siblings Paula (Alan “Butch”) Klopp of Port Washington, Pauline (Dan) Schmidt of Port Washington, Suzanne “Suzie” (the late Mickey) Arndt of Grafton, Henry (Carol) Prom of West Bend, other relatives and many, many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents Henry and Josephine and brothers Gerald (Marilyn) Prom, Floyd (the late Nancy) Prom and Richard (Ellie) Prom.
A funeral Mass will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 27, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside.
Visitation will be at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the Mass.
Shirley will be laid to rest beside her husband at St Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington later that day.
