Scouts put their homemade hot rods to the test

For months, members of Port Washington Cub Scout Pack 3837 worked to turn blocks of wood into sleek race cars, all for the chance to show them off and put them to the test. That chance came during the Pack’s Saturday, March 21, Pinewood Derby at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Clockwise from top photo: The winners in the performance category were (from left) Colin Riemer, Liam Dangles, Fredrick Huber, Bennett Husting, Luke Egan, Emma Zanotti and Cole Cassidy. Kade Tetschlag won the Most Fuel Efficient Award with his aerodynamic car. Scouts watched intently as cars sped down the track.   Photos by Sam Arendt
