School receives tech grant

Cedar Grove-Belgium Middle School will enhance its technical education equipment after receiving a grant of nearly $20,000 from the Wisconsin Technology Initiative.

The school will receive a new laser engraver, two 3D printers and other tools.

“We applied with the hope to enhance the space that we designated and started creating last year,” Principal Kelly Dzurick said in a report to the School Board.

In addition to the $20,000, the school is receiving $5,000 for training of up to 10 staff members, which includes a personal visit from a Makerspace expert.

The school will also receive hands-on training for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-based teachers at the Einstein Project in Green Bay.

STEM-based teacher Sarah Burke wrote the grant.
