School calendar for 2026-27 year is approved

The Cedar Grove-Belgium School District calendar is set for the 2026-27 school year.

The School Board approved the calendar last week.

The first day of school will be Tuesday, Sept. 1 — Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7 — and the last day will be Friday, June 4.

Thanksgiving break is from Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27.

Winter break starts Thursday, Dec. 24, and runs through Friday, Jan. 1.

Spring break runs from Monday, March 22, through Friday, March 26.

“There are no significant differences between our calendars in 2025-26 and 2026-27,” Supt. Elizabeth Freeman said.

The first session of summer school is scheduled to start Monday, June 14, and run through Thursday, July 1. Summer school is held four days per week.

Five professional development days are scheduled throughout the year, all on Mondays. They are Sept. 28, Nov. 2, Jan. 18, Feb. 22 and April 26.

Those days used to be held on Fridays, but former Supt. Chad Brakke said the staff requested they be moved to Mondays to improve production since teachers can be burned out at the end of the week.
