Saukville Saints end season with loss at Slinger

One bad inning sent the Saukville Saints to defeat in the final game of the season at Slinger on Aug. 4.

The Slinger Stingers scored six runs in the third inning and beat the Saints, 10-3.

Four hits and two walks keyed the pivotal third inning, which included a two-run single by Chase Elliot.

The Saints scored all of its runs in the sixth inning. Simon Bares led off with a single and Cole Bzdawka walked. Luis Dupe hit an RBI single, and a Brendon Zimdars single loaded the bases. Marco Porras brought home the second run with a ground out, and Steve Dickmann followed with a grounder that scored the third.

The Stingers scored one run in the first inning, two in the fourth and one in the seventh.

Zimdars and Dupe had two hits each for the Saints.

Connor Wojciechowski started and allowed eight hits, nine runs and four walks while striking out one in four innings. Peyton Anderson allowed two hits, a run and three walks while whiffing five in four innings.

Nolan Breuer, Carter Tennis and Carson Rosine had two hits each for the Stingers.

Tennies started and allowed two hits and a walk while striking out eight in five innings. Mason Opetz allowed five hits, three runs and two walks while striking out five in three innings. Tyler Johnson allowed a hit and struck out one in one inning.

The final standings for the Rock River League Northern Division were: Kewaskum A’s, 15-1; Hartford Hawks, 12-4; Oakfield Oaks, 10-6; Brownsville 49ers, 8-8; Thiensville-Mequon Twins, 8-8; Slinger Stingers, 7-9; Cedarburg Mergs, 6-10; Hustisford Astros, 4-12; and Saukville Saints, 2-14.
