David, Sandra Dawn (nee Franzen)

Born to life on April 10, 1964

Born into eternal life on Feb. 16, 2022

Sandy was born and raised in Milwaukee and moved to Ozaukee County with her young family in 1991. 

She spent her daughters’ early childhood volunteering with Grafton schools, happily lending her artistic talent to create murals and holiday decorations for the classrooms, and her strengths in reading and literature as a gifted and talented program facilitator. 

Her passions did not stop with teaching and art; she loved attending her daughters’ sporting events, being pampered at the salon, dancing, playing pool, live music, gardening, interior decorating, fishing, Ford Mustangs, and more than anything — attending Brewers games.

After the loss of her mother to emphysema, she was inspired to go back to college to become certified as a respiratory therapist. She graduated on the dean’s list and began her career at Columbia-St. Mary’s in 1999. Sandy’s passion for patient care led her to become a respected clinical educator. Her field expertise and caring bedside manner have touched the lives of many. 

Sandy’s work ethic remains inspiring; she achieved her ambitious goals and made her loved ones very proud.

In 2016, Sandy was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and retired. In her later years she enjoyed painting pictures and portraits, riding her bike around Cedarburg, walking her beloved dog Pebbles, and spending time with her family and committed partner. 

Sandy’s loyalty, strength, and determination never wavered. She completed her life’s journey at the young age of 57.

She was preceded in death by grandparents/adoptive parents Gerhard and Dorothy Franzen, mother Marilyn Franzen, father Joseph Scaffidi and sister Athena Weber.

She is remembered with love by daughters Kat David (Rachel Clair) and Christina David, grandson James David Schmitz, brothers Steve Franzen and Roger Poulos, sister Lisa Poulos and longtime partner Heath Rausch.
