Saints handed Rock River League losses by Oakfield, Rubicon

The Saukville Saints ran into tough competition in Rock River Baseball League play last weekend against two strong teams.

On Sunday, the Saints lost at Oakfield, 4-0. Oakfield improved to 5-1, and the Saints fell to 0-6.

The Saints managed five hits off starter Ian Zahn in eight innings and Brody Madigan’s one inning. Steve Dickmann had two of the hits.

Saints pitcher Nate Lucas allowed four runs on eight hits.

Rafael Garcia and Matt Shafer had two hits each for the Oaks.

On Saturday, the Saints lost to the Rubicon Red Sox, 14-3.

The Red Sox (4-2) scored nine runs in the first inning on eight hits and three Saukville errors.

The Saints scored three times in the second inning on singles by Mike Pruefer, Aaron Brockman, Mike Mueller, Mike Sherrick and Max Pruefer.

Sherrick pitched the final 3-1/3 innings for the Saints, allowing one run on one hit.

Dickmann and Max Pruefer each had two hits.

Miles Zimdars had three hits for the Red Sox.

On Sunday, June 17, the Saints will host the Plymouth Flames at 1:30 p.m.
