Ruona’s piano solo piece wins award

Levi Ruona

Cedar Grove-Belgium Middle School seventh-grader Levi Ruona took first place in a recent music contest.

Ruona won the piano solo category in the Middle School Division of the Wisconsin School Music Association Student Composition Project for his piece, “Minor Puzzles.”

An online awards program will be held May 8.

The Student Composition Project allows student composers to receive feedback on their pieces from professional composers, who select the winners.

Ruona, whose band director is his mother Linda, plays French horn in the middle school band and Sheboygan Symphony Youth Orchestra. He also sings in the middle school choir and Lakeshore Youth Chorale and takes private piano and French horn lessons.
