Ronald G. ‘Herk’ Herkowski

Mr. Ron Herkowski of Port Washington passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, following an unexpected health issue. He was 63 years old.
Ronald was born Oct. 20, 1957, in Milwaukee, the son of Ralph and Ione Pagel Herkowski.
The family moved to Port Washington when Ron was a child, and he attended local schools, graduating from Port Washington High School, Class of 1975.
On Oct. 3, 1981, Ron was united in marriage with Joyce Clark at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple settled in Port and raised their family of three daughters.
Herk had been employed by KMC Stamping in Port Washington for more than 20 years, retiring in 2020.
Mr. Herkowski was a member of St. John XXIII Parish in Port Washington.
He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Packers and Badgers. He enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting, riding around on his scooter and going up north to the family cabin in Carter. He also loved to take his grandchildren fishing with him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joyce; their daughters Anastacia (Jacob) Schnabel of South Haven, Minn., Renell (Kris) Klemp of Slinger and Katelyn (Isaac) Wollner of Port Washington; and nine grandchildren, Drake, Dylan, Jonathon, Izabella, Lucy, Molly, Duane, Miles and Fredrick.
Ron is also survived by brothers Robert (Linda) of Brown Deer, Roger (Debra) of Grafton and Richard of Saukville and sister Renee (Tim) Spillane of Bradenton, Fla. He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Ione.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2 p.m. until the service at 4:30 p.m.
