RONALD A. BUTKUS

Ronald A. Butkus, 68, formerly of Oconomowoc, died Thursday, Sept. 27, at his Port Washington home.

Mr. Butkus was born in Chicago on April 30, 1950, to Alphonse and Bernice Rupslaukus Butkus. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from St. Rita High School in 1968.  

On Oct. 2, 1971, he married Barbara Galenziewski at St. Gall Catholic Church in Chicago.

Mr. Butkus worked as a metallurgist for Silgan Containers in Oconomowoc for 42 years, retiring in 2016.

He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton and was a former member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Delafield, where he was a Eucharistic minister for parishioners in the hospital or homebound. He also enjoyed cooking, traveling, buying new cars and watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears, his family said.

Mr. Butkus is survived by his wife Barbara of Port Washington; children Ronald (Kim) of Antioch, Ill., and Amy (Todd) Steffen of Menomonee Falls; grandchildren Sophia, Frank, Raquel, Ron, Henry, Joe and Ruby; siblings Tony (Mary) of Brookfield, Ill., and Patricia Butkus of Oak Lawn, Ill.; sisters-in-law Phyllis (Rick) Rimer of Plainfield, Ill., and Fran (Deland) Pelto of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and brother-in-law Joe Galenziewski of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Karen Galenziewski and parents-in-law Frank and Dolly Galenziewski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. Father Mike Strachota will officiate.

Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the Mass.

Memorials to the ALS Association are suggested.

Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is handling the arrangements.
