Rodney W. Blumenberg

Mr. Rodney Blumenberg of Waubeka, formerly of the Town of Port Washington, passed away at Ascension-St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee late Saturday night, June 18, 2022. He was 73 years old.

Rodney was born in Port Washington, the son of Richard and Dorothy Riffler Blumenberg.

He attended school in Knellsville before attending Port Washington High School.

After his father passed away, Rodney left school to begin supporting his family. He helped out on the Kolbach farm and worked second shift at the Woolen Mill in Grafton.

On May 31, 1975, Rodney was united in marriage with Renette Vlach at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Washington.

The couple lived in Grafton until they purchased a business in the Town of Port Washington in 1982. They turned the business into the R&R Bar and Grill and raised their family of three children in the home above the tavern.

The couple moved to Waubeka in 2017 and officially retired as tavern owners in June 2021.

In his younger years, Rodney enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle.

He was into recycling long before it was a “cool” thing to do and could always find a way to repurpose something.

Rodney appreciated classic muscle cars and still owned a 1971 Chevelle that he planned on restoring.

He was a tree conservationist and hated to ever see a tree have to come down.

While he rarely served drinks at their establishment, Rodney did the cooking and maintenance and all of the yard work. He loved cutting grass on his riding lawn mower!

In his spare time, Rodney involved his family in helping him rehab properties that were then used for rental purposes.

He was never afraid to state his opinion on a matter in a straight up fashion.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Renette of Waubeka, daughters Nicole (fiance Peter Saggio) of Grafton and Carla Blumenberg of Birnamwood, Wis., and granddaughters Julia and Rachel, both of Grafton.

He is further survived by his sister Darlene (Marvin Schulze) Blumenberg of Crivitz, eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many customers and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Tyler Blumenberg and his parents Richard and Dorothy.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington, 1600 W. Grand Ave. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Saturday, July 2, from 1 p.m. until the service at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for medical and funeral expenses or the National Kidney Foundation.

Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
