Rodeo to be held annually

While cold and wind kept rodeo crowds slightly smaller than at last year’s inaugural event, the band at Buechler Farms in Belgium on Saturday night made up for it.

Farm co-owner Irene Buechler said about 2,500 people came to the Rice Bull Riding Co. rodeo and to see the band Rebel Grace.

“It’s a huge event for us and a huge event for Belgium, and everybody enjoys it,” she said, adding that 35 to 40 workers were brought in for the day.

The response led to the decision to hold a rodeo every summer.

“We’re looking at making this like an annual event now. The feedback we’re getting back from people is just amazing,” Buechler said.

Next year’s event may be held the second-to-the-last or last weekend in June, she said.
