Road reconstruction starts Oct. 25 in village

Road reconstruction next week may slow traffic in the Village of Saukville. 

Starting Oct. 25, the Ozaukee Highway Department will be milling and paving Highway 33 from the Milwaukee River bridge to near the Port Washington State Bank. 

While travel lanes will be open for both eastbound and westbound traffic, delays are anticipated, according to a village announcement. 

Work on the road project is expected to be completed by the end of next week. 

The village will also be working on Colonial Parkway starting Tuesday, Oct. 26. 

During the project, the road will be pulverized and repaved; portions of curb, sidewalk and driveway will be replaced; storm and sewer inlets will be improved;  and new handicap accessible ramps will be installed at intersections. 

While work is weather dependent and subject to change, pavement pulverization is excepted to begin Oct. 26. 

The road will be drivable after asphalt has been laid and compacted, but residents are urged to drive slowly through the area. 

Pavement on the road is expected to begin later that week. 

The roadway will remain drivable throughout construction, and signage will be placed to limit traffic to local residents.
