Riveredge Nature Center to host tubing, fishing and yoga programs

    Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville is offering a number of programs for the rest of July.
    Tubing the Milwaukee River for  Newburg residents will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17.
    Those attending will discover the diversity of living things that make their home in the river. Participants should wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get wet. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
    The program is part of the Community Rivers Program.
    Advance registration is required.
    “Yoga and Forest Bathing” will be offered from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the center.
    Sam Lammers of Soyo Studio will lead participants through a tension-releasing practice outdoors, then a Riveredge naturalist will lead a forest bathing hike designed to connect participants with the natural world and their inner self through simple meditations.
    Those attending are asked to bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
    Advance registration is required.
    The fee is $15 for All Access members, $18 for Trail Pass members and $21 for nonmembers.
    Family Fishing Fun on the banks of the Milwaukee River will be offered to Saukville residents from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.
    The event will take place at Ehlers Park, where participants will learn how to tie a hook on the line, bait the hook and safely cast. A Riveredge naturalist will help identify each fish caught before releasing it. Bait and poles will be provided, although participants may bring their own.
    Children ages 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
    The program will be presented by the Community Rivers Program.
    A parent or grandparent and child trek and tree climbing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 24.
    The tree climbing is intended for children ages 7 and older and adults with little to no tree climbing skills. Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.
    All the equipment is supplied.   Participants should wear loose clothing, such as a T-shirt and long pants, and closed toe shoes, especially those with hard soles.
