Riveredge to host bird walks, yoga classes

    Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville has announced upcoming programming, including its Friday bird walks, yoga, tree climbing and other events.
    Advance registration is required for the bird walks, which are held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Fridays beginning June 12.
    Nearly 100 species of birds, including 10 species of warblers, nest at Riveredge and many may be seen during the walks.
    Veteran birders will meet the group in front of the Visitor’s Center for the walks, which will take place rain or shine. Face coverings will be required for staff and participants while registering, when indoors, and if social distancing is a challenge.
    The walks are open to adults and children ages 10 and older.
    There is no fee for All-Access members, a $5 fee for Trail Pass members: and a $7 fee for nonmembers.
    A tree climbing event for children with a parent or grandparent will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 12, and another from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 24.
    The program is aimed at children ages 7 and older and adults with little to no tree climbing skills. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
    All equipment is supplied, and participants should wear loose clothing and closed-toe shoes, preferably with hard soles.
    The fee is $21 for All Access members, $27 for Trail Pass members and $38 for nonmember.    
    Yoga in the trees will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20.
    Participants, led by Sam Lammers of Soyo Studio, will stretch through a tension-releasing practice outdoors. Participants may joins Riveredge facilitators in practicing aerial yoga in climbing trees.
    The fee is $50 for All-Access members, $60 for Trail Pass members and $75 for nonmembers.
    A tea and topics program focusing on mammal skull identification will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17.
    Another tea and topics program dealing with the geological, historical and cultural history of the Milwaukee River basin will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24.
