Rita M. Davis

Rita M. Davis, age 94, of Saxeville, formerly of Plainfield and Saukville, passed away Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026, at Eden Vista Assisted Living in Oshkosh.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1931, in Caroline, Wis., the daughter of Bernard and Anita (Netzel) Pockat.
She married Neil R. Davis on July 5, 1953. Together they raised four wonderful children, Diane, Bill, Tom and Jim.
Rita graduated from Marion High School in 1949 and Lincoln County Rural Normal School in Merrill in 1951. She then began teaching at the Cloverleaf one-room school in Shawano County.
She met Neil at a Plainfield homecoming village dance. After they got married, Rita and Neil moved to Milwaukee and then to Saukville, where they raised their family.
Rita taught elementary school until 1972 while completing summer school classes and earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She also taught preschool part time in later years.
Rita loved to visit with her family and friends and talk on the phone. She cared about people and enjoyed sending out cards for birthdays and anniversaries. Rita loved getting her family together for the holidays or special events and preparing meals and decorating the home. She always looked forward to spring when she could visit the local garden centers and plant and place new flowers inside and around the home. Rita loved watching birds and always marked the calendar when the hummingbirds arrived each year. She enjoyed shopping, going for rides with Neil, going out for lunch or just visiting friends.
Rita is survived by her three sons, Bill Davis, Tom (Anita) Davis and Jim Davis; three grandchildren, Katherine (Eric) Carlson, Matt (Abby) Davis and Mike Davis; her son-in-law Gregg Flannery; other relatives; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Neil, her daughter Diane, her parents and siblings Mardelle and Glen.
