Applications are being accepted to fill a vacancy on the Ozaukee County Board when longtime county Supr. Lew Herro retires in March.

Herro represents the 14th District in Grafton, consisting of wards 5, 6, 7 and 8 in the Village of Grafton. A map of the district can be found online at www.co.ozaukee.wi.us.

Herro said he is resigning from the board because he is moving out of the district. His current term runs through April 2022.

According to the County Clerk’s Office, Herro was first appointed to the County Board on Sept. 6, 1995, and served until 1999. His second stint on the board began in 2018.

Herro’s successor will complete the balance of his term. Persons interested in applying to fill the vacancy should contact county Administrator Jason Dzwinel at 238-8202 or jdzwinel@co.ozaukee.wi.us for more information.

Online applications can be accessed at www.co.ozaukee.wi.us.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, March 12. Interviews are planned for 3 p.m. Monday, March 15, with appointment to the County Board to be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17.

The Ozaukee County Board consists of 26 supervisors, each representing about 3,300 people. The board sets program priorities and county policies and determines county taxation through the annual budget process.
