Fredonia residents interested in serving their community are asked to join several proposed citizen committees intended to call attention to outstanding individuals or local businesses and residences.

Volunteer committees in development include resident of the year, student of the year, business beautification and residential beautification.

“There are a lot of people who for a very long time have given to the village and we would like to let people know who those people are,” said T.J. Meyers-Jansky, a village trustee and chairman of the village Economic Development Committee, which is heading up the committee formation.

A business beautification award process was launched last year, but Meyers-Jansky would like to increase involvement in that effort.

“There are a lot of good things going on in the community and we’d like to recognize those, but more participation would help,” she said.

Anyone interested in being part of these or other committees is invited to contact the village office at 692-9125.
