Rebels clobber Slinger to win conference title

The eighth-grade Saukville Rebels won their second straight Heller Conference championship with a 28-6 blowout over previously undefeated Slinger on Saturday.
Nate Uselding threw a touchdown to Ryan Burmesch, ran one in himself on a 26-yard draw play and added an interception returned for score near the end of the game.
Kaiden Schumacher added a 75-yard touchdown run as Natasha Klemann gave him a lane with a huge block.
The defense created four turnovers. Kenyon Davis intercepted two passes while Schumacher and Rowyn Pagel each recovered fumbles.
In the seventh-grade game, Braydex Greenwood hauled in a Noah Day pass for a 52-yard touchdown. Nathan Schramm and Dakota Kitzman each intercepted passes, but Slinger came out on top, 42-6.
In the sixth-grade game, Garett Kawczynski scored from 8 yards out and Dylan Kirk added a 60-yard touchdown run. Mason Sommer hit Kirk for an extra point but the Rebels fell, 26-13.
On Saturday the No. 2-seeded Rebels host the No. 7 Greenfield Hawks at Didier Field in Saukville in the eighth-grade quarterfinal. The sixth-grade game starts at 4:30 p.m. with older grades’ games to follow.
