Port Washington boys finish basketball’s regular season at 23-1 after tight win at Plymouth

The Port Washington High School boys’ basketball team finished undefeated in the Glacier Trails Conference after a one-point victory at Plymouth last Thursday.

Grady Karrels had 13 points, Kiya Sullivan had 11, Cal Loose had eight, Aiden Mitchell had seven and Izaiah Scheftgen had six in the 53-52 win.

Port had a small late lead and hung on.

“Grady hit several big shots down the stretch, but it was Kiya Sullivan who really changed that game. His defensive energy and effort helped us contain Kayden (Schultz) in the last 10 minutes and he added an extremely efficient 11 points,” coach Garrett Hoffmann said.

Schultz scored 31 points.

Loose left the game in the second half after tweaking his ankle, but Hoffmann said he will be ready for the postseason.

No. 1-seeded Port, 12-0 in the GTC, starts the playoffs on Friday, March 6, by hosting either No. 8 Milwaukee Marshall or No. 9 Obama SCTE. The winner plays Saturday, March 7, against either No. 4 Milwaukee Vincent or No. 5 Cedarburg.
