Port man nabbed after hit-and-run accident in village

Saukville police arrested a 58-year-old Port Washington man at his home on Sunday, Feb. 24, after he allegedly struck another car in Saukville and drove off.

According to a police report, officers were flagged down at about 4:25 p.m. by a 50-year-old Saukville man who told them that his vehicle had been struck by another, which had left the scene at a very high rate of speed.

Police traced the license plate number to a City of Port Washington address where they met the driver. The man told police he had just returned home from the movie theater and that he had consumed two or three glasses of wine at about 9 a.m.

The man agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests and failed them. A preliminary breath test registered a reading of 0.239, about three times the legal limit of 0.08.

He was arrested for first offense operating while intoxicated and taken to the Ozaukee County Jail.

According to another police report:

• Saukville police were called to the Kwik Trip store on Green Bay Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, after getting a call that four intoxicated women had been in the store a long time.

The four women were a 26-year-old Wabeno woman, a 35-year-old Milwaukee woman, a 23-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 25-year-old Watertown woman, who was the driver of a vehicle parked outside the store.

The driver told police they were returning to Milwaukee from northern Wisconsin and had stopped to get snacks.

The driver was issued a municipal traffic citation for not having a valid license. The Watertown woman was arrested for felony warrants through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
