Port, Grafton going in opposite directions

The Port Washington High School boys’ basketball team won its ninth straight game by beating Plymouth, 71-58, at home last Thursday.

Port held a 31-26 halftime lead before pulling away a little bit more in the second half.

Cal Loose had 27 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Aiden Mitchell and Grady Karrels each had 11 points. Izaiah Scheftgen had nine points, and Will Theisen had seven.

Mitchell and Kiya Sullivan each had five rebounds. Theisen had three assists and Scheftgen had three steals.

Port, 12-1 and ranked No. 4 in Division 2 of the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Boys Basketball Media Poll, was to host Sheboygan South on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The Pirates host West Bend West on Friday, Jan. 23, and Messmer on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Grafton’s boys, still shorthanded due to injuries lost its seventh straight last week.

The Black Hawks lost at Kewaskum, 64-55, on Jan. 13. DJ James had 25 points on 8-for-16 shooting and eight steals. Freshman Hank Doyle had 10 points.

Last Thursday, the Hawks lost, 90-38, at home to Slinger. Doyle had 10 points and five rebounds. Braxton Boehlke had seven points.

Grafton, 2-11, plays at Cedarburg on Friday, Jan. 23, hosts Milwaukee Washington on Saturday, Jan. 24, and plays at Hartford on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
