Port girls lose to league leader

The Port Washington High School girls’ basketball team faced off with the best of the North Shore Conference on the road last week, and Whitefish Bay showed why it is tied for first place with defending conference champion Slinger.

The Blue Dukes beat the Pirates, 66-27, after taking a 42-12 halftime lead.

Senior guard Lizzie Egan led the Pirates with eight points. Kaytlin Kassens and Kate Erlandson each scored four.

Ellie Clements scored 24 to lead the Blue Dukes on 9-for-16 shooting from the field. She grabbed nine rebounds and had five assists. Elena Deslongcahmps scored 15.

The Pirates, still winless, host Cedarburg (7-5 NSC) on Friday, host Hartford (2-10) on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and host Nicolet (4-9) on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
