Photography exhibit on display at Gallery 224

ARTservancy artist Eddee Daniel is the featured artist at Gallery 224 in downtown Port Washington during February.

The exhibit features photographs taken by Daniel along the Milwaukee River Greenway.

Although the gallery at 303 N. Franklin St. is not open, the exhibit can be viewed from its windows.

“A Wealth of Nature,” a blog written by Daniel about the Milwaukee River Greenway and other ARTservancy artists, can be accessed  by visiting awealthofnature.org/milwaukee-river-greenway-a-year-in-the-wilderness/.

ARTservancy is a year-long artist in residence program offered by Gallery 224 in partnership with the Ozaukee Washington County Land Trust, the River Revitalization Foundation, and the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy.

An artist walk of the Milwaukee River Greenway Tour led by Daniel will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 13.

The greenway is an urban wilderness of more than 800 acres intended to maintain its natural character despite its proximity to the surrounding city.

The walk will begin at one of Milwaukee’s newest parks, the Rotary Centennial Arboretum.

Those attending are asked to dress for the weather and to wear Yaktrax or a similar item to make hiking easier.

The featured artist for March will be Vicki Reed, who spent the last year researching and creating artworks inspired by Forest Beach Migratory Preserve.
