Philip Nicholas Watry
Philip Nicholas Watry, 81, husband of Betty Ann Truett Watry, died Sunday, April 28, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, S.C.
Born Sept. 27, 1942, in Hartland, Wis., he was a son of the late Lawrence Caspar Watry and the late Olive Marie Schmidt Watry.
Mr. Watry was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a retired United Methodist Church minister. He enjoyed traveling, camping, antiquing and, more than anything else, spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 61 years, include three children, Connie W. Hayes (Jack) of Yorktown, Va., Philip N. “Nick” Watry Jr. of Landrum, S.C., and Anthony C. Watry (Ellen) of Milton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Watry (Rosie) of Wisconsin, Bill Watry (Linda) of Colorado and Joe Watry (Ann) of Wisconsin; two sisters, Clara Koepp of Wisconsin and Anne Burress (Steve) of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Philip N. “Trey” Watry III, Emily Hayes and Micah Watry; three brothers, George Watry, Charles Watry and Chris Watry; and two sisters, Laurene Klas and Joanne Bley.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Laura Whitt, the Rev. Tony Porter, the Rev. Trey Belangia and the Rev. Nelson Stokes.
Burial will be in Wells Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Louie Gentele, Michael Kinsey, Spencer Watry, Benjamin Watry, Stephen Lompado and Jack Hayes.
The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and other times at the home.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter, S.C., was in charge of the arrangements.
