People asked to pick the best planter in downtown Port

Local businesses and volunteers have transformed Port Washington’s downtown planters into festive autumn displays that are at the heart of a competition.

Residents and visitors may vote for their favorite business-decorated planter through Friday, Oct. 9.  Only one vote is allowed per person.

Each participating planter features a sign with a QR code for voting.

Additional planters throughout downtown have been decorated by community volunteers.

Approximately 300 votes were cast during last year’s contest.

“This initiative is such a wonderful example of what makes our downtown special,” Amanda Baldwin, executive director of Port Main Street Inc., which sponsors the contest. “Our businesses and volunteers put so much creativity into making downtown feel welcoming and vibrant. It’s a simple way to celebrate the season, bring our community together, and encourage people to explore everything downtown Port Washington has to offer.”
