Patrick J. Schommer

Patrick John Schommer passed peacefully on June 27, 2026, at his summer home in the Town of Meeme.

Patrick was born in Port Washington, Wis., to Julius and Olive Schommer. He was raised in Belgium, Wis., with his four siblings, Paul, Kathryn Ann, Steven and Gerald.

Patrick graduated from Cedar Grove High School and enlisted to serve in the Vietnam War as a radio operator.

After he came home from the military, he and his friends relocated to south Florida, where he met his wife Constance LeDeoux. After they were married on Long Island, N.Y., they moved to Cleveland, Wis., and had two children, Angela and Jacob. In 1986, the family moved to Spring Hill, Fla.

Patrick was the bagel maker at his brother-in-law’s shop, Bagel King. He also delivered newspapers and retired from a Walmart Distribution Center.

In 2021, Patrick’s son Jacob (Angie) welcomed to the world Patrick’s granddaughter Olive June. She was his pride and joy!

Patrick loved being a snowbird and traveling to Wisconsin for the summers. Patrick loved being at his brother Gerald’s. He would call it “his heaven.” Patrick and Gerald had season passes to their favorite place — Road America. You could always find them at turn 14.

Patrick is survived by his children Angela and Jacob (Angie), his granddaughter Olive, his siblings Paul (Teri), Steven and Gerald (Joyce) and several nieces and nephews.  

Patrick was predeceased by his wife Constance; his parents Julius and Olive; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Ann and Tom Dorcas; and sister-in-law Carol Schommer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 5 p.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the service.

A private burial service will be held at Lake Church Cemetery in Belgium, Wis.
