Ozaukee baseball wins first game

Ozaukee High School’s baseball team got the first win of the season in dramatic fashion last week, then followed it by blowing out the same opponent.

The Warriors beat Sheboygan Lutheran, 5-4, by scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on May 5.

Jackson Szydel had three hits and an RBI. Colton Dybul had two triples and scored two runs. Aiden Acevedo had two hits, including a double. Mason Schroeder had two hits, an RBI and scored a run. Owen Uselding had one hit, an RBI and scored two runs.

Dybul allowed four runs (three earned), six hits and four walks while whiffing seven in 5-1/3 innings. Colter Zimdars allowed a hit and two walks while striking out two in 3-2/3 innings.

Last Thursday, the Warriors scored in every inning but one in winning at Sheboygan Lutheran, 13-3.

Zimdars had four hits and two RBIs. Dybul had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and scored three runs. Carter Szydel had three hits and two RBIs. Schroeder had two hits and an RBI. Dane Zimdars had two hits.

Schroeder went the distance, allowing nine hits, three runs (two earned) and a walk while whiffing five.

Ozaukee lost at Kiel on Saturday, 7-4. Dybul had two hits and an RBI. Acevedo and Brett Paulus each had a hit and an RBI. Dane Zimdars allowed seven runs, six hits and three walks while whiffing one in six innings.

Ozaukee, 2-8 in the Big East Conference South and 2-14 overall, was to host Howards Grove on Tuesday, May 12. The Warriors play at Howards Grove on Thursday, May 14, and at Roncalli on Friday, May 15. They host Dominican on Monday, May 18.
