Online conference was a success

Luxembourg Fest’s first attempt to hold its annual conference online due to the Covid-19 pandemic drew attendants from three countries last month.

The fest, held Aug. 6 and 7, had 75 registrations from the U.S., Luxembourg and Switzerland. Recordings from both days have been viewed more than 70 times.

“We believe that some of the registrants may have had more than one person watching. So, we imagine that the real number may be larger. Last year we had an attendance of 67 for our annual in person conference,” Luxembourg American Cultural Society Director Patricia Lutz said.

The positive response has led organizers to offer a recorded version as well as an in-person conference next year, she said.

The theme was “Votes For Women: 100 Years of Women’s Voting Rights in Luxembourg and the United States.”

In addition, a one-hour online language class drew 86 people. The recording has been viewed 38 times.
