Norbert J. Kirsch

Norbert J. Kirsch passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at his home in Saukville at the age of 86.

Norbert was born in Gillett, Wis., on Jan. 13, 1939, the son of Herman and Olga (nee Lockstein) Kirsch. 

He attended Gillett High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. 

Norbert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for four years. 

On July 11, 1964, Norbert married Sharon Goetzke in Milwaukee. 

Norbert spent his professional career as a linotype machine operator, contributing his skills to the Milwaukee Journal for more than 30 years. He had an unwavering commitment to hard work and was known for his meticulous attention to detail. 

Norbert had a strong connection with his community. He was an active member of the Saukville American Legion Post 470, where he served as adjutant, vice commander and commander. His leadership and service had a lasting impact on many.

Norbert was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending his time in nature.

Norbert is survived by his two sons, Scott (Amy) Kirsch and Corey Kirsch, and four grandchildren, Shawna, Lauren, Brycen and Bryn Kirsch. He is further survived by brothers Donald Kirsch and Melvin (Karen) Kirsch, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Olga and wife Sharon.

A funeral service for Norbert will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, Wis. Pastor Jonathan Fischer will preside. The family will receive guests from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. 

Norbert will be laid to rest next to his wife Sharon at Union Cemetery in Saukville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church are appreciated. 

Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family with arrangements.
