Nominations for service academies due Oct. 9

    The deadline to apply for a service academy nomination through the office of U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman is Friday, Oct. 9.
     Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies — the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in New York.
    The U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
