New wheels allow for rides in the country

The Belgium Lions Club’s recent donation of $3,000, along with money from a Go Fund Me campaign, gave Terrie Large of Port Washington a 2017 medical van with a wheelchair ramp. Large, who has muscular sclerosis, has been in a wheelchair for 20 years and can now face forward in her van and enjoy the scenery of rides through the country. “I feel safe,” Large said. Large (left) received the check from Lions Club member Allan Arendt (center) and club President Dean Wester.                                                        Photo by Sam Arendt
