New dump hours not a hit with everyone
The Town of Belgium’s new dump hours have some residents in the dumps. “It’s going OK but people still don’t know we close at 1:30,” site supervisor Ron Swihart told the Town Board on Monday. “The gates close at 1:30 and they complain.” The town approved changing the hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays to 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. last fall to be in line with area towns’ schedules that took effect this year. The dump is also open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from May through September. Town Chairman Tom Winker said he will have Supr. Tom Bichler help determine a plan to better inform residents.
