Music and art events on tap for next week

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School will host a band concert and art show Monday, May 6, in the gym and commons.

The art show starts at 6:30 p.m. and features the work of high school art students.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and includes performances by the jazz and concert bands and wind ensemble. The music of John Williams and songs from “Avengers” and “The Greatest Showman” will be featured.

The Old Town Hall Studio and Gallery, owned and operated by high school art teacher Don Urness and his wife Eileen, will hold its first open studio night from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8.

People are encouraged to bring their own art and supplies. Don Urness said he hopes to build camaraderie among local artists and plans to hold workshops in the future.

Saturday, May 18, is the closing of the Dream Flowers exhibit at the studio. Sally Van Driest will share the story behind the artwork.

The studio is at 814 Main St.
