Museum of Quilts, Fiber Arts reopens, classes set

    The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts in Cedarburg, reopened Wednesday, June 3.
    The museum at N50 W5050 Portland Rd. will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and by appointment.
    Face masks must be worn and social distancing practiced. Visitors may bring their own, although disposable masks will be available.
    Hand sanitizer will also be available throughout the museum.
    Only 10 people will be allowed inside the museum. After that, the doors will be locked and a sign placed outside asking visitors to return in a little bit.
    Admission may be purchased online at www.wiquiltmuseum.com, and visitors are encouraged to make an appointment at least 48 hours in advance.
    High-touch surfaces will be cleaned between visitors.
    Even though the museum is reopening, free webinars at noon on Fridays will continue to be offered.
    They include a virtual tour of the exhibit “Ivory and Blue” by curator Emily Schlemowitz on Friday, June 5, and a conversation with Iroquois raised beedworker Karen Ann Hoffman on June 12.
    The museum will accept quilt blocks for its Quarantine Quilt until June 30.
    Blocks may be dropped off in the Free Little Library outside the museum or in the box between the two sets of entry doors.
    Blocks may also be mailed, but they must be postmarked by June 30.
    The Quarantine Quilt exhibit will open in early August.
    A number of classes and programs have been rescheduled. They include beginning weaving on June 17, a tie dye lab on July 7 and the fiber arts rummage sale on Sept. 4 and 5.
    The fiber club will meet on June 18 and July 16.
