Motorcyclist clocked at 151 mph faces chase felony

A 28-year-old man charged with multiple felonies in counties throughout Wisconsin is accused of leading officers on a high-speed I-43 motorcycle chase through Ozaukee County on July 11.

Alonso Tinoco of Green Bay, who at one point was clocked traveling at more than 150 mph on the freeway, eluded officers in Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties who either couldn’t keep up with him or broke off the chase for safety reasons and was arrested only after his motorcycle broke down in Manitowoc County, according to a criminal complaint filed last week.

Tinoco was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court last week with fleeing an officer and four counts of felony bail jumping.

According to the complaint, at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, July 11, Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Timothy Whalen spotted a motorcycle, which authorities later learned was driven by Tinoco, heading north on I-43 and clocked its speed with his radar at 151 miles per hour.

Whalen tried unsuccessfully to stop Tinoco, then alerted deputy Peter Morton, who was on patrol on I-43 in the Town of Grafton. Morton spotted the motorcycle, which did not have a rear license plate, and paced it at 60 mph before activating his vehicle’s emergency lights to pull it over. Tinoco sped away with Morton chasing him to the Saukville area until Whalen advised him to discontinue the chase, the complaint states.

Saukville police officer Nicholas Oszuscik tried unsuccessfully to stop Tinoco on I-43 north of Saukville, then Port Washington police officer Ryan Haas followed Tinoco to Belgium, where he exited the freeway and headed west on Highway D before making a U-turn and driving east, according to the complaint.

Tinoco headed north again with Morton following him as far as Jay Road in the Town of Belgium.

Sheboygan County sheriff’s deputies picked up the chase but were unable to stop Tinoco, who entered Manitowoc County.

A deputy there spotted Tinoco and just before activating his vehicle’s emergency lights noticed the motorcycle’s lights were flickering and appeared to be malfunctioning. Even though Tinoco was twisting the throttle to accelerate, the motorcycle continued to slow down and came to a stop, which is when Tinoco reached into his pocket and threw a white object into the median, the complaint states.

The object was a pill bottle that contained buprenorphine and naloxone, a prescription medication combination used to treat opioid use disorder, according to the complaint.

Tinoco, who agreed to answer questions after being arrested, said he left a friend’s house in Milwaukee at 12:30 a.m. July 11 and was driving so slowly that other vehicles were passing him. He said he didn’t hear sirens or see emergency lights and wasn’t aware that officers were trying to pull him over until his motorcycle started to die in Manitowoc County, the complaint states.

  As for not having a license plate on his motorcycle, Tinoco said it must have fallen off, according to the complaint.

Tinoco is charged with multiple counts of felony bail jumping because he was free in lieu of bail in multiple cases in several counties at the time of his July 11 arrest.

In Fond du Lac County, he was charged on May 21, 2025, with being a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing an officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic drugs and threatening an officer. He was released from jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

On July 23, 2026 — nearly two weeks after his arrest for the motorcycle incident — Tinoco pleaded no contest to the two drug charges he faced and was sentenced to jail, although that part of his sentence was stayed, and 18 months probation. The other charges were dismissed.

In Brown County, Tinoco was charged on Aug. 1, 2025, with bail jumping and theft. He was released in lieu of a $10,000 signature bond, but on June 22, 2026, a warrant for his arrest was issued because he failed to appear for a court hearing. He was also charged in that county on Dec. 11, 2025, with another count of bail jumping.

In Door County, he was charged on Nov. 26, 2025, with forgery and two counts of felony bail jumping and released in lieu of a $2,500 signature bond.

In connection with his July 11 arrest, Tinoco is charged in Manitowoc County with three counts of felony bail jumping and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Last week, Tinoco, who is being held in the Manitowoc County jail in lieu of $5,000, waived his right to a preliminary hearing, was bound over for trial and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Tinoco has yet to appear in Ozaukee County Circuit Court.
